According to information available to us, an individual has been identified who is alleged to have extorted Ivelin Mihaylov on behalf of the Commission for Countering Corruption (CCC). The individual identifies himself as Plamen Vekov. There are indications that he is the same person who also exerted pressure on Deyan Ivanov, Deputy Mayor of the city of Varna.
The new government could relatively easily establish the identities of those who exerted pressure on the chair of a parliamentary group in an attempt to make him change his views. This could also establish whether there has been an abuse of power by Delyan Peevski, Boyko Borissov and individuals associated with them.
If these allegations are confirmed, this would constitute massive corruption and abuse of power affecting national security. When someone manipulates the will of the people, they abuse all state resources and institutions.
It is alleged that the case involves the CCC, the State Agency for National Security (SANS), the National Revenue Agency (NRA), the judiciary, the prosecution service, the media, political organisations and individuals who appear to have seized control of the state. In comparison with this gigantic abuse, the flights involving the Falcon aircraft appear like the theft of a packet of chewing gum.
It remains unclear why the new government is taking no action in response to these allegations, thereby creating the impression that it is protecting the mafia and oligarchy against which it claims to be fighting.
Ivelin Mihaylov has expressed his willingness to take part in a lawful identification procedure involving employees and agents of the CCC and SANS, in order to uncover this enormous affair, which is actively being concealed by the political forces represented in the National Assembly and by those in government.
We are giving the government and the competent institutions one week to take concrete action. If this does not happen, we will begin releasing information about the entire affair and publicly identify those involved, providing the available information to the media and the relevant institutions.
This would certainly bring down the government of “Progressive Bulgaria”. If its fundamental promises — to restore order and the rule of law and ensure that the political mafia faces justice — are broken from the outset, the people who gave it full power to achieve these goals will withdraw their support, making new elections unavoidable.
In the context of the forthcoming presidential elections, we also call on all presidential candidates to adopt a firm and clear position on this case.
We shall see whether the media will report this shocking development concerning Bulgarian democracy. We are allowing one week for a response from the government. If no response is forthcoming, we will conclude that those in power are trading legality and justice for political and economic gain.
