Ivelin Mihaylov, Leader of the Parliamentary Group of the Velichie Party in the 51st National Assembly, has undergone a polygraph test (lie detector examination) addressing four matters of key public interest.
When asked whether he had misappropriated funds from the 'Historical Park' project and its associated commercial entities, or personally benefited in any manner, Mr Mihaylov responded with an unequivocal "NO". The polygraph results conclusively verified the veracity of his statement.
Key Questions for Public Institutions
In light of these findings, the Velichie Party submits the following pressing questions to the public and competent authorities:
- Detentions: On what legal grounds were seven individuals detained for a period of four months?
- Media Campaign: Why have national media outlets, over the past seven years, continuously engaged in defamation against a legitimate enterprise that serves the public interest through Bulgarian culture, history, and education?
- Political Allegations: Why have political leaders actively sought to defame Ivelin Mihaylov, the Velichie Party, and 'Historical Park', repeatedly alleging falsehoods and financial irregularities?
Polygraph Test Results and Responses
The specific questions put to Ivelin Mihaylov during the polygraph examination, alongside his verified responses, were as follows:
- Have you derived financial gain from your political activities?
Response: NO - Did you witness Kostadin Kostadinov accepting millions in bribes?
Response: YES - Were you coerced by the Anti-Corruption Commission - Commission for Counteracting Corruption and Forfeiture of Illegally Acquired Property (KPACONP) to vote alongside Peevski and Borisov?
Response: YES - Have you misappropriated funds from 'Historical Park' and its related businesses, or personally enriched yourself through them in any way?
Response: NO
Lack of Official Institutional Response
Despite these decisive answers and supporting polygraph findings, no official response has yet been issued by the competent state authorities or the political entities concerned.
It remains to be seen whether other public figures will follow suit to demonstrate their integrity via polygraph examination, or whether Ivelin Mihaylov will stand alone as the only Bulgarian politician willing to submit to such independent scrutiny.
